Whoa... nice. A long day of work, I get home, check the ol' blog traffic, and it's gone and quadrupled on me. Huge thanks to Hugh Hewitt and Blackfive for linking me! It's so, so gratifying to have people you read and listen to every day mention you ex nihilo. Also Big Sky Dave gets a hat tip for linking me. Small bloggers gotta stick together.
I still have never heard anybody suggest that renaming the Cards would be a bad idea, except to say that Rangers has a decidedly Texas sound to it. I thought the same thing, until I learned that Arizona had its own force of Rangers from 1901 to 1907. Call the team the Arizona Rangers, and soon it'll sound just as right for Arizona as it does for Texas.
So I wanted somebody else to run with the idea. I have no taste for activism and calling front offices and harrassing secretaries to let me talk to Bidwell. But I think I'm going to have to take the next step and start pushing the plan, calling and e-mailing people. I'm not working 'til late tomorrow, so I guess I'll start hashing it out.
So here's my challenge. While I enjoy the sport of football in general, I do not have a team. I do not bother to watch until the Superbowl comes around. If the Cardinals are re-christened the Rangers, I will buy a jersey. The Arizona Rangers, for good or ill, will forever be my team.

The Army might object, if for no other reason than having it's elite fighting unit linked to a sports unit that wins 3 times a year.
