Since Friday when I formulated the idea to rechristen the Cardinals as the Rangers, I have not encountered a single person who doesn't like the idea. I'm told my (pseudo-)brother, Sal, floated the idea to Hugh Hewitt on national radio today, though I missed it. I'm listening to KRLA's archive right now. I think it's coming up...
Funny, I'm liveblogging an archive recording. Hugh is saying that the Cardinals' decision to name the plaza in front of the stadium for Sgt. Tillman is insufficient to the significance of the event. It seems like people are calling up a lot just because they're frustrated by the Cards and the Bidwells. Lots of Phoenix callers, trying to make it into a local show. I can see why Sal called when he did.
I went ahead and looked. Sure enough, Arizona did have a historical force of Rangers from 1901 to 1907. So there's an extra plus.
Ha! Hugh called my plan "a very good idea." Very heartening.
Also, I've hunted around and found that Bill Hobbs had the exact same idea, and published it the same day I did, though I got the thing posted at 12:15 AM. It would still be a good idea, even if he got the credit. :-)
Okay. Heard the whole conversation, and recorded it too. Sal is supposed to be on Bruce Jacobs tomorrow, but Terry McAuliffe is gonna be on, so it's a bit dicey. We'll listen and see.
